Excerpts from On Track, to the Kingdom

Chapter 1
Don’t Let Sin Knock You off Track

Why Destroy the Toy?

Let’s get right to the point. Satan’s plan is not only to kill you, but first he wants to toy with you. Sure enough he comes to “steal, kill and destroy,” (John 10:10), but why kill you right away when he can destroy all that you are first. The enemy plans to defame you and slander you and make a mockery of all that you are. And if the enemy can destroy your reputation…he can probably destroy those around you as well.
When you allow sin to knock you off track you may be hurting others around you in addition to yourself. Corruption can be contagious. If you allow corruption to take over, you may infect family members, friends, and even co-workers. This can bring demons into the picture. Demons are bodiless, evil spirits seeking to find a home. When you allow sin to take over, this opens the door for an evil spirit to come into your life. The longer you go without repenting the stronger the demon can become. By harboring sin in your heart you give Satan permission to rule over that area. Satan is identified as the Prince of Darkness. Therefore, if there is darkness in any area of your life, Satan rules there. When we harbor evil spirits we can pass them along to others. That is why I said that corruption can be contagious.

Chapter 3

Staying on Track

Look at it this way, all sin needs is a seed. In Matthew 13, Jesus gives a parable on some seeds that were sown. Jesus says that some of the seeds fell by the wayside and birds came down and ate them. Then, He says that some seeds fell on stony places and were scorched by the sun, some fell among thorns and were choked by them, but others fell on good ground and produced fruit. Sin comes from a seed. When you watch TV, listen to the radio, or whatever, seeds can be planted. Just as in the parable they fall onto different places. Not all of them will live, but some will remain in your thoughts and become a part of your thinking. The more you expose yourself to such things the larger the possibility of those seeds landing in the wrong ground and producing fruit, bad fruit.
As my editor puts it, “It all starts in the mind, which activates your emotions, which influences decisions, and results in an action.”

Chapter 4

Benefits on track

You cannot lose

Read 1 John 5:4 with me. It reads, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.” Are you a child of God? If so that means that you are born again, born of God. This scripture says that if you are born of God you overcome the world. What overcomes the world though? Victory. Victory overcomes the world. How? Through our faith. When you have faith in God all things are possible. “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes,” (Mark 9:23).
I am simply saying this, you cannot lose! If you believe and have faith in God you have victory. Victory is defined as triumph, or success in a contest or test. You have that! You have triumph and success. Whatever is troubling you; whatever is holding you down is no match for God. We have the victory in every situation. In Matthew 16:18, Jesus tells Peter, “on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.” You have the victory over the gates of Hell. That is where the most evil imaginable is. If you have the victory over that, then I know you have the victory over whatever is going on in your life now. God said it, not me. You have the victory. Claim it! Prophesy to your situation right now. Tell it, “God has given me the victory over you, so you cannot beat me. I am the head and not the tail. I am above and not beneath. Not even the gates of Hell shall prevail against God’s temple and I am a temple of the Holy Spirit. So in Jesus name I command you to get behind me! I have the victory!”

Part 2: The Kingdom

The Word of God says that Jesus, “went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom,” (Matt. 4:23). Then it says that when Jesus sent His disciples out He said, “And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” (Matt. 10:7). I want to begin this second phase by posing a question. What gospel are you preaching?
Realize it or not, we are all preaching something. Our lives minister to people everyday, but we must be sure that we are ministering the gospel or “good news” of Christ. It is one thing to live on track, but it is another to live for the Kingdom. Living on track builds us as individuals, but Kingdom work means that we are building and equipping others to do the work of Christ so that there may be more workers in the vineyard. The load that we have to carry will not be as heavy if we would equip others to help us carry it. God did not intend for a few special people to carry the load of the Lord. He intended on making the whole world carriers of the gospel. That is why Christ continually sent people out. He brought them in, equipped them to do a good work, and then he sent them out to find more people and repeat the process.
Many churches and people are working on getting themselves right, but they are neglecting to do the work of the Kingdom. The world is our field and the harvest is ready, but the laborers of God have been slacking. We must go into the world, preaching the message of Christ and build the Kingdom of God. Let his Kingdom come and His will be done on this earth as it is done in Heaven. Let us work together to build His Kingdom.

Chapter 15

Building the Kingdom

Jesus was not trying to build a large following. He was trying to build leaders. Notice that when Jesus healed people, delivered people, or did the fantastic, He told them not to tell anyone, such as in Matthew 9:30. He did not need more followers; He needed and needs more leaders. He told the disciples to, “pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest,” (Matt. 9:37). Jesus went around healing blind eyes because, “if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a ditch,” (Matt. 15:14). Jesus is in the business of building people so that they can be leaders, but many today have gotten into the business of building large followings.
Do not get it wrong. I am not speaking against large ministries or large church congregations. I find that many of those congregations and ministries have grown so much is because they are empowering people to be leaders. They have realized that the way to growth is by building the Kingdom of God. When we realize how vast the Kingdom of God is, we will realize that even the largest ministries are small in comparison.

Chapter 16

Church in the Kingdom

It amazes me how many people come to church every Sunday, bible study, Sunday school, church meetings, conferences, etc. and then go home just as messed up, if not more than they were before. It amazes me how many ministers preach Sunday after Sunday, teach night after night and then go home bound by the same problems they’ve had for years. It is amazing how much ministers admonish people to tithe, and the church is still in debt. It is simply amazing how we allow the enemy who is nowhere as powerful as God to rule our live. All this is possible because we run from the truth. We can complain to God about how messed up things are in our lives, and then we will go and preach, teach, listen to and learn something that is false and not the truth of God.
For all of those that are bound and do not know why, trapped and wondering why, the answer is stated in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Why are we still struggling with the same old problems? Why won’t people sow into the church? Because the truth is not being told. The truth of the matter is that God does not want us to sow into the church. He wants us to sow into the Kingdom. The truth is we are still struggling with the same old problems because we have not been translated into the Kingdom of God. When you are translated into the true Kingdom of God, things change. The way ministers preach will change, what you listen to will change, how you conduct yourself in church will change. Yes, we do need to go to church, but we also need to know how to cast out the man ordained order of the church. We cannot lock God in a box, and then expect Him to do the miraculous.

Chapter 17

Obedience in the Kingdom

I have a memory of when I was younger teaching my dog to sit. When I first began to teach her to sit, it seemed as if she was not listening because she never did it. I would instruct her to sit and she would not sit. I would repeat it over and over again, but she still would not do it. It seemed as if she was rebelling, but at the same time she would lick me and jump on me in a manner to express her love for me. Even though she loved me and I loved her, I would get upset with her because she would not do what I asked her to do. I still loved her, I still fed her, I still took care of her, but I was getting aggravated because lesson after lesson passed and she still would not sit. How many times must God tell us to sit, before we sit? How long will it take before we are obedient to His instructions?
